The Elizabeth Wesley Youth Merit Incentive Award Program is a community-driven initiative that celebrates and supports African-American students in Pierce County. Each year, students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades are eligible to receive a $350 award for academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement.
Our Mission
We recognize and reward African-American students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades who demonstrate:
- Academic achievement
- Leadership and service in their community
- A strong commitment to personal growth and future success
Students who meet the criteria receive a $350 incentive award and are celebrated at a public community event.
Our Impact
Since our first year — when just five students received awards — the program has grown significantly. To date, we have:
- Recognized and celebrated over 4,000 students
- Awarded more than 3,800 incentive awards
- Granted over 200 scholarships to graduating seniors
- Invested over $1.6 million in community-based youth success
